To kick off National Dog Bite Awareness Week, the United States Postal Service has released their annual list of the places with the most dog bites for their employees. According to the USPS, more than 53-hundred of their employees were attacked by dogs while delivering the mail in 2022.
“When our mail carriers are bitten, it is usually a ‘good dog’ that had not previously behaved in a menacing way,” explains USPS Occupational Safety and Health Senior Director Linda DeCarlo.
- California was the state with the highest number of dog bites last year with 675.
- Houston was the city with the most dog attacks against USPS employees in 2022, followed by Los Angeles and Dallas.
