As more and more orcas terrorize boats in the ocean, the latest incident left one sailor shaken after his yacht was tossed around like a “rag doll”. Iain Hamilton, 60, recalls being marooned for days after five whales attacked his boat while sailing 20 miles off the coast off Gibraltar.
After noticing one of the whales biting off a rudder, he told BBC Radio 4, “Then we lost the second rudder so we had no mechanism of steering the boat and the whales were in charge of the boat and they pushed us around like a rag doll,” he added. More than 250 boats have reportedly been damaged, and three of them sunk, since these incidents were first reported in 2020.
