Forget what you’ve heard about real, masculine men and emotions, new research shows they’re just as likely as women to show their sensitive side. According to a new survey of 2-thousand adults, 71% of men admit to being in touch with how they feel, almost as many as the 82% of women who say the same.
The poll also reveals:
- Just over a third (37%) of men consider being called “sensitive” a compliment, more than the 23% of women do.
- In fact, 24% of women say they’d be insulted if someone called them “sensitive,” even though 48% of both men and women surveyed think it’s more socially acceptable for women to show their sensitive side than men.
- Still, 33% of respondents think being in touch with how they feel is actually the sign of a good leader.
- In general, 52% consider being seen as sensitive as a positive thing and 55% think people showing their sensitive side makes them more likable.
- Nearly half (45%) say being seen as sensitive can help someone succeed in their career.
- And 35% have been in a work situation where they felt their emotional intelligence was an asset to their team or company.
