During the summer months, food-insecure families in the DMV face increased challenges. With schools out of session, many children miss out on vital meals, leaving families struggling to provide enough food. Recognizing this critical need, Mark Bucher, the Restaurateur behind Medium Rare, has launched a community service program called Feed The Fridge. In collaboration with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, this initiative aims to alleviate hunger by providing pre-made, nutritious, and delicious lunches in four locations in D.C., Virginia, and potentially Maryland.
Wellpoint, the managed care plan for Medicaid insurance in Maryland, kickstarted the Feed The Fridge program with a generous $10,000 donation. While this contribution may not single-handedly eliminate food insecurity in the DMV, it serves as an important step forward. Wellpoint's support sets a positive precedent for other organizations and individuals to come together and make a difference.
If you're inspired by Feed the Fridge's mission and want to contribute, you can support the program by making a donation. Every contribution counts, and 100% of the donations go directly toward feeding the fridges and ensuring that food reaches those who need it the most. By coming together as a community, we can create a sustainable solution to combat food insecurity and provide a brighter future for families in the D.C. Metro area.
