KPMG’s Is Offering Extra Classes on “Soft Skills” for Gen Z Recruits

Lots of Gen Z workers entered the workforce during the pandemic, when everyone was working from home. They didn’t have the opportunity to learn the same “soft skills” that others were able to learn by being in an office and watching or speaking to their colleagues. Some companies noticed that Gen Z recruits didn’t have basic workplace communication skills, and they’re doing something about it.

Bosses at KPMG UK noticed that their junior staff didn’t have confidence when it came to basic workplace skills like project management and teamwork. Because of it, the company has now implemented that any graduates and apprentices need to be in person during induction weeks. They’ll also need to spend three days a week working from their central office in London.

KPMG’s also offering extra classes on “soft skills” for Gen Z recruits. These will include learning how to collaborate in a team and how to give presentations in person. Another training is on how to speak with people in person, like where to pause in conversation and what the right level of eye contact is. PWC and Deloitte have also launched similar coaching programs after noticing similar challenges.
