More Mothers Are Helping Doctors Deliver Their Own Baby

The latest trend in childbirth gives the expecting mom one more job in the delivery room -- helping lift out the newborn during a C-section. Doctors, midwives and moms are all reporting a list of benefits from the hands-on method, including less post-partum depression. In the Mother-Assisted Caesarean, the woman helps deliver the child by lifting them out of her uterus, up onto their chest, for an immediate cuddle. It can be especially emotionally healing if a woman has had a distressing emergency caesarean birth in the past.
