MYM: MD Tennis Star Launches The Frances Tiafoe Fund

Frances Tiafoe, a semifinalist at the U.S. Open and ranked in the ATP Top 10, launched The Frances Tiafoe Fund in partnership with the USTA Foundation. The initiative aims to support and inspire young tennis players, particularly those in the Washington, D.C., area, where Tiafoe grew up. Having learned the game at the Junior Tennis Champions Center (JTCC) near the nation's capital, Tiafoe is passionate about giving back to the community that supported him.

Tiafoe's parents emigrated from Sierra Leone during a civil war and settled in Maryland, where his father was involved in constructing the JTCC. This is where Frances and his twin brother, Franklin, took up tennis. The fund will begin with $250,000 in grants from the USTA Foundation and one of Tiafoe's sponsors.

During a clinic at the JTCC, Tiafoe interacted with young players, emphasizing the importance of hard work, celebrating successes, and giving back to the sport. He sees himself as a role model and aims to inspire and make a positive impact on young people, especially those who face similar challenges as he did.

Tiafoe's initiative allows kids to see tennis professionals as real people and provides an opportunity for them to be motivated and encouraged to pursue their own tennis dreams.
