McDonald’s execs have announced they’re launching a new spinoff restaurant chain. It’s based on CosMc, an alien from outer space who was a mascot for the company back in the 80s and 90s, and the concept is called “CosMc’s.”
The company shares that McDonald’s New Business Ventures team is working on the new chain, which will be tested in a handful of sites in “a limited geography” beginning in early 2024. They say CosMc’s will be a “small format” restaurant concept “with all the DNA of McDonald’s but with its own unique personality.” They haven’t shared more details yet, but say they’ll announce more development plans at their Investor Day in December.
In case you don’t remember him, CosMc was featured in a series of McDonald’s commercials and print ads running from 1986 to 1992.
