Business leaders don’t think that Gen Z college grads are prepared to entire the workforce, a new survey finds. Online magazine “Intelligent,” which focuses on student life, spoke to 1,243 business leaders on how they’re feeling about working with graduates from the Class of 2020 to the Class of 2023.
The survey found:
- 40% said recent college grads are unprepared to enter the workforce
- 94% of these business leaders said they even avoid hiring them
- 7% said they always avoid hiring Gen Z grads
- 27% admitted to usually avoiding hiring Gen Z
- 40% said they “sometimes” did
- 20% said they “rarely” avoid hiring Gen Z
Why don’t these business leaders want to hire Gen Z workers? According to them, Gen Z has negative traits like a sense of entitlement, poor work ethic, and are lacking in communication skills. Of the subset that said Gen Z grads aren’t prepared for the workforce, 88% said that “etiquette classes” would help them.
