Everyone wants to look their best on their wedding day, especially in the pictures, which they’ll have forever. But seven in 10 Americans admit they couldn’t even enjoy their own wedding day because they were so stressed about how they looked, according to a new survey.
A poll of 2-thousand married or engaged U.S. adults finds 79% believe it’s important to have “perfect” wedding photos. That may be why couples are willing to spend an average of $1,680 on a good wedding photographer. And that’s on top of the $1,581 they spend just getting ready for the photos.
The survey commissioned by the Invisalign brand and conducted by OnePoll also reveals:
- A quarter of brides and grooms planned to have aesthetic changes done before their wedding day.
- Before their wedding photos, 56% had their hair professionally done, 45% had their makeup done, 41% got their nails done, 27% lost weight and 26% got their teeth whitened.
- Weddings can be chaotic and photos don’t always go as planned, with 29% of respondents experiencing some kind of drama during their wedding photoshoot. Common problems include wedding party members running late (37%), in-laws or parents disagreeing on who should be in the photos (37%) and kids making faces (32%).
- About a third (32%) admit there were things they wish they could have changed about how they or their spouse looked on their wedding day, including having more time to get ready (42%), wearing something different (35%) or having the wedding at a different venue (34%).
