Cities With The Worst Traffic

No one wants to sit in traffic, but in some places in the country, it’s always bad and a report reveals where the backups are the worst. The Global Traffic Scorecard by INRIX reveals that last year, the typical driver in the U.S. lost 51 hours to traffic congestion. The transportation analytics company’s research finds that around the world, London has the highest number of traffic delays and second is Chicago.

The Illinois city is the U.S. city with the worst traffic, and last year, drivers in Chicago lost 155 hours to sitting in traffic. The report finds that it now has more traffic delays and congestion than it did pre-Covid. While it’s no fun when you’re behind the wheel, Bob Pishue, a transportation analyst at INRIX, says it’s a sign of a good economy. “Congestion shows that the economy is moving,” he explains. “Traffic is a problem, but it’s reflective of people going to the office, running errands, shopping, visiting relatives, which are all good things.”
