United Airlines is introducing a new boarding process called "WILMA," starting on October 26.
Under WILMA, window seat passengers will board first, followed by passengers with middle seats and then those with aisle seats. First-class and business-class passengers will still board first. This change aims to reduce the number of times seated passengers have to stand to let others pass. The boarding groups will include various categories, such as pre-boarding for customers with disabilities and military personnel, and group assignments will be based on the highest applicable boarding group for customers traveling together. United Airlines has tested this method before and claims it can save up to two minutes of boarding time per flight.
