Walmart Introduces Daily 'Sensory-Friendly' Hours In Stores

Starting on Friday, November 10th, Walmart will introduce daily "sensory-friendly" hours in all of its stores. During these hours, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. local time, Walmart will create a quieter and less stimulating shopping environment by displaying static images on TV walls, turning off the radio, and dimming the lights when possible.

This initiative aims to make Walmart stores more inclusive for individuals with sensory disabilities, following positive feedback from a pilot program conducted during the back-to-school season. The move reflects a broader trend of providing sensory-friendly experiences across various industries.

“Several associates expressed the desire to continue this program all year,” Walmart store manager Tyler Morgan said. “We have associates with autism, ADHD, etc., in the store, and one associate made the comment that this is the first time the company did something just for him. I know we could all use some calm during the stressful holiday season, so I hope this program can continue.”
