Southwest Airlines Hikes Alcohol Prices Ahead Of Holidays

Southwest Airlines has increased the price of its in-flight alcoholic beverages, with all liquor now costing $9, up from $7. Beer options, which include Miller Lite and Kona Brewing Big Wave Golden Ale, are now going to be $7 instead of $6. Wine will also cost more, with prices rising from $6 to $8.

In a statement, the airline said, "Southwest last adjusted pricing for onboard beverages in 2018 and recently reviewed our position as we work to keep fares low while offering our Customers unmatched flexibility."

Southwest will still offer complimentary nonalcoholic beverages on its flights, and Southwest offers only water on flights that are 175 miles or less. The airline had suspended alcohol sales during the pandemic due to passenger disruptions, but it resumed them early last year.
