*LIST* THE MOST HATED HIGHWAYS IN THE U.S.

Some drivers will complain about the traffic no matter where they are and think their commute is the worst. But some places across the country definitely have more congestion to contend with, leading to frustration behind the wheel, and a new report reveals where those are.

Volvo Cars of Daytona Beach recently polled 3-thousand U.S. drivers about the roads they like driving on the least. According to the survey, these are the most hated highways in the U.S.

  1. US-101 in California - This highway tops the list as the most frustrating in the entire country, particularly in the San Francisco and Los Angeles areas, known for frequent bottlenecks and heavy traffic, especially during rush hour.
  2. Interstate 5 in California - Second on the list is I-5, which runs the length of the entire state, but once again, it’s the L.A. metro area that has the most delays, thanks in part to seemingly endless construction.
  3. Interstate 405 in California - Rounding out the top three is the I-405, or the San Diego Freeway, which has a reputation as being the busiest and most congested highway in the country. It’s infamous for its gridlock, with the worst being around … you guessed it, Los Angeles.
  4. Interstate 76 in Pennsylvania - Also known as the Pennsylvania Turnpike, I-76 is known for congestion and unstable traffic patterns, as well as slow downs at toll plazas and frequent road maintenance.
  5. Interstate 70 in Colorado - This highway cuts through the Rocky Mountains and regularly has traffic snarls, which are even worse during ski season and snowstorms.
  6. Interstate 65 in Alabama - I-65 is also bad for traffic congestion, especially around Birmingham. Infrastructure improvement projects only slow things down more.
  7. Delaware’s DE-1 - This highway sees significant delays, often around Dover and routes to the beach in the summer.
  8. Interstate 87 in New York - From New York City to upstate, I-87 drivers face frequent traffic jams and frustration.
  9. Interstate 90/94 in Illinois - Also known as the Dan Ryan and Kennedy Expressways, these adjoining interstates are known for heavy traffic and lots of delays.
  10. Garden State Parkway in New Jersey - Traffic congestion can be heavy here, especially on routes leading to and from the Jersey Shore on summer weekends.
