We told you recently about Cheri Guy, an English teacher who was using TikTok to help get “Wishmas” gifts for students at her Las Vegas high school. Within days of her video plea to her TikTok followers, they’d received hundreds of gifts and donations, enough to cover about 300 of the 900 students who’d asked for their holiday gift wish to be granted.
Well, the donations of gifts and money kept coming and last week, the school hosted an event where they passed out gifts to more than 900 students on the “Wishmas” list. About a hundred of the gifts were supplied by the staff and teachers at the school, but the other gifts were sent in by people from around the world who just wanted to support the kids.
The act of kindness left a profound impact on the students, making them feel valued and loved by a community far beyond their school. The success of the "Wishmas" program this year brought hope to everyone involved, particularly following a difficult period for the school community marked by tragedy. Guy hopes that the story inspires others to support schools and students in their local communities, fostering a culture of education, appreciation, and kindness.
