Things That Don’t Belong in Your Bedroom, According to Experts

Creating a clutter-free bedroom is essential for a peaceful and relaxing environment. Tina Horan and Nancy Yerkes, co-founders of Uncluttered Spaces, share expert advice on what items should be removed to maximize space and minimize stress.

Exercise Equipment: While home workouts are convenient, keeping exercise gear in your bedroom adds unnecessary clutter. Move it to a dedicated workout area to keep your bedroom serene.

Mismatched Socks: Those single socks without mates are just wasting drawer space. It’s time to part ways with them and make room for items you actually use.

Old Clothes: If your closet is filled with clothes that no longer fit or that you never wear, it’s just taking up valuable space. Keep only what you love and wear regularly.

Bills and Mail: Stacks of mail and paperwork can make your bedroom feel chaotic. Designate a specific spot, like a drawer or basket, to keep these out of sight and organized.

Mismatched Hangers: A closet full of mismatched hangers looks messy. Invest in sturdy, matching hangers for a more streamlined and visually pleasing closet.

Dishes: It’s easy to let dishes pile up in the bedroom, but they don’t belong there. Return them to the kitchen promptly to avoid unnecessary mess.

Extra Bedding: You only need two sets of bedding. More than that just takes up space and creates clutter.

Empty Boxes and Containers: Instead of letting these accumulate in your bedroom, store them in a closet, basement, or crawl space.

By removing these items, you’ll create a bedroom that’s not only more organized but also a more restful retreat.
