As the Washington Capitals gear up for the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs and celebrate their 50th Anniversary Season, a group of talented third- through fifth-grade students from Brooke Grove Elementary School in Montgomery County, Maryland, are getting fans hyped in a special way.
These young Caps fans are the stars of a brand-new music video, created in collaboration with musician Paulie Z and the David Z Foundation. After researching the team’s history, the students used their Chromebooks to help write the lyrics to a high-energy anthem. They then took a field trip to the MedStar Capitals Iceplex to film the music video—with a special appearance by Capitals legend Peter Bondra.
The entire project was part of the Caps in School initiative, presented by KPMG, which brings music and education together in fun, hands-on ways.
“It was great to see the students connecting their Caps knowledge with their creativity,” said Brooke Grove Principal Travis Payne. “They got to write a song, perform it, and film a music video. Experiences like this help show why music education matters.”
Students also had the chance to freestyle dance and ice skate in the video, making it a memorable and empowering experience.
