On a crisp Wednesday morning in Bowie, city and county leaders opened the doors to a new workforce training center at the former Kenhill Center, once home to Bowie’s City Hall. The center is part of a broader effort across Prince George’s County to help residents navigate a shifting job market and build the skills employers are looking for.
Inside, visitors can access a free computer lab, complete online skills assessments, and take advantage of a variety of training programs—from resume building and interview preparation to technical and professional courses offered through the county’s employment network. The center also provides personalized career guidance to help job-seekers map out their next steps, whether that’s landing a new role, advancing in their current career, or exploring entirely new fields.
This Bowie location is the third such center in the county, joining others in Largo and National Harbor, with plans to expand further so that all 27 municipalities have accessible training hubs. The goal is clear: to make workforce development practical, local, and approachable, giving residents the tools and confidence they need to thrive in today’s economy.
