FEEL GOOD FRIDAY

Falls Church resident Hillary Cheney was in the hospital, recovering from a serious illness. The routines of daily care and bland hospital meals left little room for the joy she had always found in travel and fine dining. Longing for a taste of the experiences she once enjoyed, she reached out to a few top restaurants with a special request: could someone bring a memorable meal to her hospital room? Only one answered.

Chef Patrick O’Connell and his team at The Inn at Little Washington embraced the request. On a cold winter evening, two staff members arrived with a carefully crafted six-course meal, transforming Hillary’s hospital room into a moment of magic. From delicate caviar and Chesapeake crab to poached trout and a luscious chocolate dessert, every dish was chosen to delight and lift spirits.

The meal became more than just food—it was a moment of connection, a spark of joy in a challenging time, and a reminder of the power of care and thoughtfulness. For Hillary, it was a bucket-list experience made real; for the team who delivered it, it was a profoundly moving act of generosity that showed how a little kindness can brighten even the hardest days
