MYM: Temple Hills Front Porch Series Earns National Recognition

In Temple Hills, Maryland this February, a front porch became the heart of a Black History Month music celebration, blending local culture with national talent. The event traces its roots back to 2018 in Southeast D.C., where Antwon “Noochie” Vincent started hosting freestyle sessions on his own porch.

What began as a small, community-centered experiment has since grown into Live From the Front Porch, a viral music series celebrating go-go culture and Black music heritage. The series has drawn major artists including Snoop Dogg, Jill Scott, and Big Daddy Kane, all performing alongside DMV locals.

The platform has earned accolades, including a 2026 NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Short Form Series, proving that a simple idea rooted in community can reach a national stage. Following the Black History Month showcase, Noochie and the Front Porch crew are planning more events across the region this spring and summer, continuing to spotlight local talent and cultural heritage.

As far as bringing more artists in, he believes the sky is the limit. Adding Stevie Wonder and Jay-Z to the list of potential guests in the future.
