THE ALLOWANCE: Kids seem to be making - and saving - their allowance!

While your parents may have thrown you a few coins each week for an allowance, kids these days certainly seem to be making out pretty well. According to RoosterMoney, an app that tracks kids’ allowance and chores, 69%% of parents say they gave their kids an allowance last year, with the average weekly amount being $9.06, or $471 a year.

Now it may suck for kids to have to do chores to get some of that dough, but it sure sounds like they are getting paid well. The report notes the top earning chore is washing the car, which can earn them $4.60, followed by gardening, $4.34 and cleaning their bedroom $2.71

And it turns out not all of those kids are running to spend their money as soon as they get it. In fact, kids are likely to save 42% of the money they’ve earned, which is better than the average adult, who tends to only save about 2.4% of their income. As for what they're saving it for, phones are the top items, followed by LEGO and when it comes to spending, candy is the most popular purchase, followed by presents.

OMG CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS? This WOMAN RAGES at her date when he refuses to pay for her EXPENSIVE meal!

  • A man shared on Reddit that a recent date let him having it for making her pay her food bill
  • He only spent $20 on his meal, while she ate lobster and wine, which cost almost $100
  • She said he was rude, and couldn’t believe he had her pay, while most folks on Reddit sided with the guy

There has always been, and always will be, debates about who should pick up the check on a date, and while some may think the man is always responsible, others don’t necessarily agree. Well, one man shared his recent drama surrounding the very subject, revealing that he basically got abused by his date for not picking up the check, and he has a lot of folks supporting his decision.

The unnamed man, believed to be from Ireland, shared on Reddit that while out on a date he refused to split the bill evenly with the woman he was with because her share of the bill was almost six times more than his. Apparently the girl was the one who asked him out, and when he tried to make plans to go out again she let him have it.

“After what you did to me last time you expect me to go out with you again? Wow,” she wrote, and when he asked why she was so mad she replied, “You made me pay for my own food and drink while you paid for only yours wtf.” The guy explained he felt it would be unfair for him to have to pay the whole bill when he basically got a bowl of pasta, which cost under $20, while she ate lobster and drank wine, which cost almost $92. He added, “you were really expecting me to pay that? I’m a student not your sugar daddy.”

The woman didn’t think he had a point, calling him “rude,” and adding, “if you can’t pay for a girls’ food then why accept the invite,” but not many people agree with her opinion. In fact most people on Reddit sided with the fella.

  • “That's why she invited you out so she could get expensive food and wasn't expecting to pay,” one person wrote, while another added, “Anyone that expects that royalty treatment is not someone you want in your life. Good move.” Finally a third noted, “That’s incredibly obnoxious. Going out solely for the free lobster! Gives women a bad name."

PEOPLE BUGGING YOU WITH WHAT THEY POST ON SOCIAL MEDIA? CONSIDER UNFOLLOWING 'EM!

If social media is making you crazy but you’re not too keen on deleting it entirely, there’s a step you could be taking to make scrolling a little more painless. Just unfollow and delete the people that make you the most insane! You don’t even need a “real” reason to do it. If you come across a post that makes you annoyed for some reason, it’s time to “thank u, next” all over that person.

If you’re one of those people who actually really enjoys social media and just doesn’t want to be bombarded with posts that make you unhappy, it’s time to do a little cleanse of your “following” lists. That girl you met once in college and only posts photos with her boyfriend can go. That fitness trainer you know you’ll never look like? Gone. How about the beauty blogger that looks a little TOO perfect in all of her selfies? Get rid of her!

It’s time we get selective about the people we surround ourselves with – that goes for our real lives AND social media. Hit the “unfollow” button, guys! The people on the other end probably won’t even notice.
