Navigating the world of online dating can be challenging and intimidating, so some singles are turning to experts for help. Dating coaches like Connell Barrett help clients overhaul their profiles, take and select new profile photos, and even initiate online chats with would-be dates, all to help them get more matches and better ones.
Barrett, founder of Dating Transformation, works with male clients for eight-week sessions in what he calls a dating “boot camp.” He jokes, “I’m Yodaand I consider my clients young Luke Skywalkers.” But he is there to help make his clients stand out from the crowd. And it’s a big crowd - Tinder reports there are more than a billion swipes on its app every single day!
To help his clients get noticed, he encourages them to ditch bathroom and gym selfies, as well as dimly lit pics and impersonal selfies and swap them out for brighter photos that show off their playful personalities. He also encourages the guys to rework their generic bios to be more personal. Barret tells them, “Crack a joke. Put your favorite Beatles quote in there. Something to express who you are.” His advice might not seem ground-breaking, but knowing the right tweaks to make can be a game-changer and if he gets clients more face-to-face dates, that’s what it’s all about.
