The generational war between Gen Z and Millennials has hit a new low. It’s moved from hurling insults at one another on Twitter to another the younger generation’s favorite platform. Millennials have stormed TikTok and they’re trying to take down Gen Z one diss track at a time.
Spoiler: It’s not working. Mostly because the tracks are well… to use Gen Z’s terms… cringey AF. One of the more popular Millennial diss tracks getting roasted right now was made by a Mammy Banter and includes lyrics like “so you think we're old, well I ain't having that / we give you WiFi, and we can take it back.” While she’s deleted the original video, her tune has been shared by countless Gen Zers posting reaction videos. And judging by the amount of fake vomiting and sarcastic crying in their clips, they aren’t impressed.
Another Millennial diss track that’s going viral has the very subtle title “GenZ you can suck it.” It was uploaded by the musician Sarah Hester Ross who tells the younger generation “you can't tell me what to wear / 'Cause I've been rocking this side part since you had Kermit on your underwear.” The reaction from Gen Z has been somewhere between laughter and thinking it’s a bit much since the teens are just “trying to exist” in a pandemic.
