The time @tkradio begrudgingly went to see @rockettes for the first time!

And so it came to pass that I went unto the Radio City Music Hall in New York City to experience the iconic Radio City Rockettes, who, after the long pandemic, are back to performing live for audiences who travel across the country and - yes - even around the world - to see this holiday spectacular which has been staple of the season since 1925!

Now, full disclosure - I went to the show and I wasn't really 'feeling' like it was something I needed to do. I don't know why, but for some reason, the idea of these women on stage for however long doing some sort of kicking routine - didn't really seem the most appealing to me. But, my significant other shared some of the personal reasons why she loves the Rockettes and why its a tradition for her, and so, being a good partner, I agreed to go... as she said it was really the "only thing she wanted to do this Christmas..."

And so... we went.

And I can tell you - I get why it's a tradition now. These dancers are insanely talented. The choreography is amazingly precise. The actors and story being told around the Rockettes is brilliantly told, acted and produced. The venue is magical... It is... Christmas. A sign that the holidays are at hand... and I needed to see it to understand it.

You realize these dancers and actors perform for 90 minutes straight? With multiple wardrobe changes, a full orchestra, two pipe organs, and tap shoes which are mic'd up? Insane talent... amazing production. So good.

Radio City is magical. I'd never been inside before... it's just so festive... and I'd probably entertain doing it again...

... only next time I won't star dozing off in the middle of the performance at around the :65 minute mark.

Yeah, I admit it, but I think it was a combination of the schedule I try to keep - and the very festive holiday drinks they have for you...

I didn't snore, though. So that's a good thing.

The Radio City Christmas Spectacular featuring the Rockettes is worth seeing. It's a tradition for so many for a reason... go and let it become one for you and those closest to you, too!

COVID NOTE: Radio City Music Hall - like most anyplace in NYC - is super safe. Like I felt so safe there it was amazing. You have to have ID and your VAX card to get in... or... you aren't getting in. When inside, you don't have to wear a mask because everyone is vaxxed, but if you feel more comfortable in one, that's cool, too. You do you... but you'll be thrilled to know everyone is vaxxed up and ready to celebrate like you!
