Hey Shawn -
I know it's been a bit since we've caught up, but I wanted to write you a quick note to let you know I'm thinking about you, and to tell you how proud I am of your openness, authenticity and how bold you continue to be as you share - honestly - how you are doing and feeling with your fans.
It's moving... because as someone twice your age, I've still not fully mastered the idea that I can be okay feeling what I feel... and that I'm not doing anyone any harm by speaking honestly and openly about feelings. I don't pretend to understand the glare of the spotlight or the intense pressure which must come with being who you are... but I do know this:
If you can inspire a 47 year old dude to embrace being imperfect, as being part of being real, well, to me, that's leadership. That's why you were put on this planet, why you were discovered on YouTube back in the day, and why you continue to be a force for good for so many people who love your music - but who more importantly - love you for being who you are.
I know you've had some ups and downs personally lately. The last two years have been insane, to say the least, but you continue to press on and overcome and inspire along the way. It is amazing to watch you continue to grow.
Keep the faith, stay strong, and know that some random radio presenter - and dad - of someone who introduced me to you back in the day... continues to be proud of you.
You are changing the world. We're cheering for you.
