There's a new presence in the ethos tonight...

There's a new presence in the apartment tonight.

Amazing... how you can instantly feel it... ya know?

A new life is now part of our lives... and I'm kinda processing how I feel about it all.

It was about a month ago we lost Clover Maxwell. This morning, we welcomed in someone new.

More about her in a bit...

As I sat by the pool earlier, and even now, I'm processing so many emotions. I'm dealing with missing my buddy of almost 10 years or so, Clover, our Maltese who was just the best dog ever. The. Best. Tonight, our new family member is hanging with Kyla in her room... the two girls doing girl things. Kyla's really taken on the role of making sure our new buddy is getting potty trained, feels safe, plays, she's really stepped into being the dog-mom-or-sis-or-whatever she will ultimately be, knowing that our new little princess will be my companion when she's back at school.

But I miss Clover.

I guess that's all part of the process.

I never realized how deeply emotional a relationship with a dog could be until Clover entered our lives. I think he'd be happy we've moved forward with a lil' girl who has a lot of him going on... with a little dose of something unique. I think he'd remind me to learn from where I made mistakes with him, and to make sure I don't make the same with our new eight-week-old bundle of amazing.

I wish he were here to meet her.

Anyway... just some random thoughts as I process what's to come while wrapping up a day which had me literally so anxious I couldn't eat all day, because of anticipation, because of the memories... and because of the future.

Tomorrow, I'll introduce you to the newest member of our pack. She's pretty awesome... and just like Clover was when he picked us... she picked us... and instantly you could see what was meant to be.

Dogs. They're the best companions ever. She's got some big shoes to fill. I've got a feeling this puppy is up to the task.

Thanks for reading. If you have potty training tips, behavior-training tips and more... feel free to fire away. I ain't hard to find.
