I hope you will indulge me for a minute. Today, before I start my day, I wanted to take a time out to tell my Mom and Dad how proud of them I am, as their first born son, to be able to say "Happy 50th Anniversary..." And while I know it wasn't - isn't - and won't always be as easy as they make it look at times as they enter these golden years of their lives together, I can't help but be very proud... that at a time when vows and the idea of a union between two people is somewhat disposable, you have show me, my brothers, your grandkids that, as it is written, "love never fails..."
I won't get to see 50 years with one person. I don't know if my generation of our family will be able to do so. That task may fall now to Kyla and her cousins... or a future generation. But if they look back at the two of you, mom and dad, and at the example set by my Meme and Papa, who also, made it, 50 years, they'll have a road map to follow down a trail blazed by the nuclear fire of love found the hearts of those who truly believe in love, in what it can be and who have proven that, as it is written, "Love never fails..."
Congratulations. I love you. Kyla loves you. We're proud of you both on this incredible milestone... and I can not wait to celebrate with you soon over some real Mexican food, or some tasty goodness from HEB, or at a ballpark taking in some Astros-related baseball game someplace in the world... soon.
