The first-ever "Golden Bachelorette" is from the DMV!

Joan Vassos from Rockville has been named the first Golden Bachelorette.

ABC broke the news on Tuesday at the Disney Upfronts presentation in New York City.

Joan, 61, was a frontrunner for Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner but left during Week 3 to be with her daughter after she gave birth.

According to People magazine, "The decision to do a female-led version of the senior dating show came after The Golden Bachelor ranked as the No. 1 new unscripted series in its season among adults ages 18-49."

The Golden Bachelorette premieres this fall on ABC. The network describes Joan as "remarkable woman whose life has been defined by her resilience, zest for adventure and strong family values." She loves cooking, hanging with her dog and Elton John.
